Synchronization of digital signals

Abstract

This chapter considers the estimation of amplitude, phase, frequency, and time delay in the context of the transmission of digital signals. Estimates that maximize an approximation of the proper likelihood function are derived. The performance of the estimation algorithms is investigated in terms of mean-square error and the resulting BER degradation of a turbo-coded system.
